چکیده

The situation calculus (SC) is a formalism for reasoning about action. Within SC, the notion of state of a given situation is usually characterized by the set of uents that hold in that situation. However, this concept is insuucient for system speciication. To overcome this limitation, an extension of SC is proposed, the situation and state calculus (SSC), where the concept of state is primitive, just like actions, situations and uents. SSC is then compared with a branching temporal logic (BTL). A representation of BTL in SSC is deened and shown to establish a sound and complete encoding.

A Propositional Branching Temporal Logic for the Ambient Calculus

We advocate the use of a CTL* logic, built upon the Ambient Calculus in dealing with mobile computing phenomena. Our logic is a more expressive alternative to Ambient Logic, based on a single modality, but still powerful enough to handle mobility and dynamic hierarchies of locations. In applications, the possibility of expressing path properties of computation together with state properties ope...

A Logic for Non-Terminating Golog Programs

Typical Golog programs for robot control are nonterminating. Analyzing such programs so far requires metatheoretic arguments involving complex fix-point constructions. In this paper we propose a logic based on the situation calculus variant ES , which includes elements from branching time, dynamic and process logics and where the meaning of programs is modelled as possibly infinite sequences of...

Sequent Calculi for Branching Time Temporal Logics of Knowledge and Belief

In this paper we consider branching time temporal logics of knowledge and belief. These logics involve the discrete time linear temporal logic operators “next” and “until” with the branching temporal logic operator “on all paths”. The latter operator is interpreted with respect to a version of the bundle semantics. In addition the temporal logic of knowledge (belief) contains an indexed set of ...

A More Sensitive Context

Logic of Behaviour in Context (LBC) is a spatio-temporal logic for expressing properties of continuous-state processes, such as biochemical reaction networks. LBC builds on the existing Metric Interval Temporal Logic (MITL) and adds a “context modality” that explores the behaviour of a system when composed with an external process. LBC models are terms of the Continuous π-Calculus (cπ), a proce...

On the fly model checking of communicating UML State Machines1

In this paper we present an ``on the fly'' model checker for the verification of the dynamic behavior of UML models seen as a set of communicating state machines. The logic supported by the tool is an extension of the action based branching time temporal logic μ-ACTL and has the power of full μ-calculus. Early results on the application of this model checker to a case study have been also repor...
